What would you think about an athlete who shows up for practice everyday, learns the plays, does the conditioning drills, yet never attends any of the games? It would seen as though the player is missing out one of the best parts of the sport - getting on the field and playing the game.
The sports analogy describes the Christian life in which a person goes to church, studies the Bible everyday, but does not use his gifts, talents, or experience to serve others. It is just like going to practice but never getting into the game.
The Bible tells us that God has given each of us unique talents (Romans 12:6) and specific tasks (Ephesians 2:10)
He has set aside for us to accomplish.
