Service Opportunities

What would you think about an athlete who shows up for practice everyday, learns the plays, does the conditioning drills, yet never attends any of the games?  It would seen as though the player is missing out one of the best parts of the sport - getting on the field and playing the game.

The sports analogy describes the Christian life in which a person goes to church, studies the Bible everyday, but does not use his gifts, talents, or experience to serve others.  It is just like going to practice but never getting into the game.

The Bible tells us that God has given each of us unique talents (Romans 12:6) and specific tasks (Ephesians 2:10) He has set aside for us to accomplish.

While your Christian Service should not be only limited to the program offered at Grand Heights, our church has a great need for the gifts that God has entrusted to you.

To find our what service opportunities await you at Grand Heights, please contact one of the ministry leaders listed below, and they will explain how you can get connected.

Missions

Grand Heights partners with other churches and mission agencies in sending missionaries to both the United States and throughout the world with the purpose of sharing God's plan of salvation with others.

We make every effort to have the missionaries we support share their respective ministries in our church services when they are home on furlough.  While they are in the field, we depend heavily upon their emails and newsletters to know how to pray for them effectively.  We have included, when available, up-to-date newsletter and email addresses and encourage you to both pray for them and contact them directly while they are in the field.

As a church, Grand Heights is actively involved in helping send out people from our own church family on short-term mission trip opportunities.  This allows them to experience first-hand the blessings and challenges of the mission field.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to the children in desperate situations worldwide through simple gift-filled shoe boxes and evangelistic materials that tell the Good News of God's love.  Grand Heights has participated in Operation Christmas Child for several years, donating hundreds of shoe boxes.  Won't you get involved this year?

Pack your shoebox with love, send it with prayer, and share the good news of Jesus Christ with a hurting child.  That's the power of a single gift.

-- Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan's Purse

Shoeboxes will be taken to the delivery location on November 24th for packaging and shipment to many worldwide locations.  Our teens will be helping this year in the packing of boxes into cartons for shipment to other countries.  Thank you to everyone who has donated and plans to donate this year.  You have helped put a smile of a child's face!

If you have any questions on how to get involved with OCC, contact Brandon Dierker.
